All Seasons Coffee, Ikebukuro: house-roasted coffee and the pudding I go back for

Most visitors treat Ikebukuro as a place to change trains. Head a few minutes west, past the crowds near Rikkyo University, and All Seasons Coffee is doing the quiet, careful things — roasting its own beans and making a custard pudding I actually go out of my way for.

Short answer

All Seasons Coffee is at 5-14-3 Nishi-Ikebukuro, 1F, near Rikkyo University (~5 min from Yōrōchō Station). Come for the house-roasted coffee and the rich custard pudding. Open roughly 12:00–19:00 weekdays, 10:00–19:00 weekends.

Why I send people here

Most visitors treat Ikebukuro as a place to change trains, not to slow down over coffee. That's exactly why I like sending people to the quiet west side, a few minutes past the crowds near Rikkyo University, where All Seasons Coffee roasts its own beans and makes one of the custard puddings I actually go out of my way for.

The coffee is the reason to come — it's house-roasted, poured with care, and the kind of cup that rewards sitting still for twenty minutes. But the thing people photograph, and then order a second time, is the purin.

That pudding

It's a proper old-school custard pudding: firm rather than wobbly, a dark bittersweet caramel pooling underneath, a little cream and a cherry on top. Paired with a latte by the window, it's a small, complete pleasure — not a trend, just a well-made thing done the same way for years.

FUMI's tip

Order the pudding with a latte, not after it. The bittersweet caramel and the milky coffee are better together than apart.
